Sunland Park in New Mexico will be the scene of one of the two Kentucky Derby qualifying races this weekend. The Grade 3 Sunland Derby will go down Sunday March 24. It will feature three year old Derby hopefuls as they chase the winner's share of the $800,000 purse and the 50 points allotted for first place over 1 1/8 miles on Sunland Park's dirt track.
Fathead Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park
Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky will be the scene of the Grade 3 Fathead Bourbonette Oaks this Saturday, March 23 on the same card that will see 50 points toward Kentucky Derby qualification handed out. Three year old fillies will race one mile on Turfway Park's all weather tack in search of the winner's share of the $100,000 purse and 50 points toward qualification in the Kentucky Oaks May 3.
Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park
The 43rd running of the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes is on tap for Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky this Saturday, March 23. Three year old males will be featured in this "Road to the Kentucky Derby" points race as they chase the winner's share of the $550,000 purse and the 50 qualifying points that go along with the win. The Derby contenders will go 1 1/8 miles on Turfway Park's polytrack surface.
Tokyo City Cup at Santa Anita Park
The 18th running of the Grade 3 Tokyo City Cup goes down this Saturday, March 23 from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Horses four years old and upward will take to the track and race 1 1/2 miles on dirt for their share of the $100,000 purse.

The Grade 3 Excelsior Stakes comes our way this Saturday, March 23 from Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York. A purse of $150,000 will be on the line for horses three years old and upward willing to go one mile and one furlong on Aqueduct's main track.
Kentucky Derby Points Update Mar 18, 2013
The "Road to the Kentucky Derby" is really starting to heat up. This past weekend a long shot gained the valuable 50 points to vault to top spot in the standings. The Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park went down Saturday and it was D. Wayne Lukas's 28-1 shot Will Take Charge that came up with the win and the 50 points - he now sits atop the standings with 60. Another Lukas colt finished second and earned the 20 points - he now has 36.
Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida will be the scene of the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes this Sunday, March 17. Fillies and mares four years old and upward will be after the winner's share of the $150,000 purse when they dash seven furlongs on Gulfstream's dirt track.
