The weekend has passed - unfortunately now we have to wait a few more days for our graded stakes action fix. It was a typically exciting summer weekend of stakes action - some huge races were contested all over the country. Here is a brief recap of went down at Del Mar, Mountaineer and Woodbine this past few days.
Some of the nation's best two year olds will be featured at Del Mar on Sunday, August 5th when the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes goes down. The juveniles will dash 6 1/2 furlongs on Del Mar's synthetic track in search of their share of the $150,000 purse.
The Grade 3 Seagram Cup Stakes comes our way from Woodbine Race Track in Toronto this Saturday August 4th. Horses three years old and upward will go 1 1/16 miles on Woodbine's main track in search of their share of the $150,000 purse.
The Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes comes our way from Del Mar this Saturday, August 4th. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will race 1 1/16 miles on Del Mar's all weather track for a purse of $300,000 and more importantly and automatic bid into the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic in the fall.
The Grade 2 West Virginia Derby is on tap this Saturday, August 4th from a very busy Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort. Three year olds will be featured as they race 1 1/8 miles on Mountaineer's main dirt track in search of their share of the impressive $750,000 purse.
